Launch Engineer, Spacecraft Integration (Payloads)
SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engineering support to Starlink satellite integration and customer payload integration.
- Develop and execute procedures for the integration and checkout of Starlink satellites, commercial/government spacecraft integration, and ground support equipment part maintenance.
- Collaborate daily with engineering staff and technicians.
- Manage and track multiple priorities toward common project goals.
- Drive non-conformances into actionable items and implement system improvements reflected in work instructions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of experience with multi-disciplinary system assemblies (aerospace payloads, automotive, aircraft, or marine assemblies qualify).
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: launch vehicle or spacecraft integration; operations in clean rooms (100,000 class or better); test operations with gases/fluids; data acquisition setup and field measurements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; emphasis on safety and adherence to corporate policies; teamwork.
- Experience in writing test plans and test procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous, startup environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Ability to work well with a wide range of people across multiple organizations (mission management, customers, vendors).
- Professional experience testing and operating around hazardous systems (high pressure, high energy, hazardous gases/fluids).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass background checks for Vandenberg Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral.
- Physical ability to stand, lift, and carry moderately heavy materials or equipment (15 to 35 lbs).
- Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment with possible extended hours.
- Occasional travel may be required. Flexible schedules due to site operational needs; night/weekend shifts may be necessary.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Pay ranges: Level 1: $100,000 – $117,500; Level 2: $115,000 – $140,000. Final level and base salary determined based on knowledge, education, and experience.
- Base salary is part of a total rewards package including long-term incentives (stock or cash), bonuses, and stock purchase plan.
