Job summary

Clackamas Women’s Services seeks a Latinx Services Support Group Facilitator to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to Latinx survivors. You will facilitate confidential Spanish-language groups, offer advocacy and crisis intervention, and engage in outreach to expand program capacity and lead culturally specific gatherings.

The role emphasizes developing a curriculum, coordinating youth activities, and building community partnerships while supporting survivors in safety

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English and bicultural competency required.
  • Willingness to complete 40-hour confidential advocate training.
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, educational sessions, or peer-support programs.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking or other forms of interpersonal violence.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, including trauma, coercive control, victim/survivor safety, power and control, and the barriers Latinx survivors may face when seeking services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to expand support group offerings for the Latinx community and develop additional groups.
  • Coordinate youth groups in collaboration with youth programming.
  • Provide support for survivors including crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and referrals.
  • Establish partnerships with community organizations to facilitate referrals.

Pay: $26.50 - $29.75, benefits available on the first of the month following hire

Position Purpose

The Latinx Services Support Group Facilitator is responsible for providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to Latinx survivors. This role includes facilitating confidential support groups, providing advocacy and crisis intervention, and offering support services to individuals accessing services. The facilitator will also engage in targeted outreach to expand program capacity and help develop and lead culturally specific support groups, meetings, and community events.

Key responsibilities
  • Facilitate a weekly Spanish-language support group for domestic violence survivors.
  • Facilitate a weekly Spanish-language support group for sexual assault survivors.
  • Plan and prepare activities for support groups, including developing topics, providing same-day text or phone reminders, and purchasing required supplies as needed.
  • Maintain documentation to track support group attendance in the designated binder and in ALICE.
  • Lead efforts to expand support group offerings for the Latinx community, including the development of additional support groups.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive curriculum focused on the specific needs and experiences of the Latinx community. This includes establishing additional support groups and ensuring the curriculum is culturally relevant and responsive to the unique circumstances of the community.
  • Coordinate youth groups in collaboration with youth programming.
  • Provide support for Latinx survivors accessing groups, including but not limited to:
  • Short-term, crisis intervention services
  • Emotional support
  • Safety planning
  • Information and referral for CWS services and community resources
  • Domestic violence and sexual assault education
  • Establish effective, positive, and ongoing relationships with community partners, both culturally specific and other serving the Latinx community, to facilitate partnerships, collaboration, and referrals.
  • Contribute to a successful team within the shared advocacy model and work from a team-based approach.
  • Other duties as assigned.
General responsibilities
  • Represent the mission and values of CWS to program participants and community partners.
  • Complete documentation of all services, including intakes, releases of information, demographic tracking, and statistics within the CWS database for all participants on a minimum of a weekly basis.
  • Maintain appropriate participant confidentiality in accordance with advocate privilege and federal statutes.
  • Provide consultation and support for community partners through collaboration and information sharing regarding the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault and its impact on survivors.
  • Work in conjunction with other staff to provide consistent services to participants.
  • Participate in speaking engagements and educational trainings as requested.
  • Attend CWS all staff meetings, regular team meetings, Latinx Leadership Team meetings, and A Safe Place meetings.
  • Meet regularly with the Latinx Services Manager to plan and prioritize projects.
  • Submit necessary monthly timesheets and mileage reimbursement forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-cultural competency required.
  • Willingness to complete 40-hr confidential advocate training.
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, educational sessions, or peer-support programs.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking or other forms of interpersonal violence.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual violence, including trauma, coercive control, victim/survivor safety, power and control, and the barriers Latinx survivors may face when seeking services.
  • Experience working with a broad range of issues affecting the Latinx community, in particular, an understanding of the dynamics of domestic/sexual violence and how it affects the Latinx community.
  • Experience supporting survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic and sexual violence and its effects on survivors, their children, and society.
  • Demonstrated understanding of anti-oppression issues, ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and understanding of culturally competent service delivery methods.
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with a wide range of public and private systems intersecting with the DVSA field (law enforcement, DHS, courts, education, etc.).
  • Computer proficiency in Windows environment including word processing and spreadsheets; (client databases preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; position includes use of personal vehicle to complete some tasks.
  • Must be able to travel throughout Clackamas County and the Greater Portland Area.
  • The person in this position frequently moves throughout CWS worksites and the community to meet with donors, volunteers, community members, partners, and staff. The person will also periodically move supplies and other items (up to 50 lbs.) from one place to another, participates in community events, and may work in all types of weather.
