Job Requirements
  • Kingdom Preparatory Academy's faculty members must:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Educate upper school students (grades 6–12) using classical methods and a biblical worldview.
  • Provide instruction in a discussion-based environment with emphasis on sound logical and rhetorical principles across disciplines.
  • Lead, instruct, disciple, and mentor students in alignment with the School’s Statement of Faith and Portrait of a KPA Teacher.
  • Partner with parents in the education and spiritual development of their children.
  • Collaborate with other school staff and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Receive direction from the Upper School Head, Assistant Head, and department chair as applicable.
  • Maintain alignment with the school’s philosophy of education, beliefs, and approved curriculum.
  • On-campus presence: arrive at least fifteen minutes before classes and stay five minutes after dismissal; complete lesson plans, update gradebooks and attendance, and comply with policies in the employee handbook.
    Note: this may require working additional hours outside designated class times.
  • Attend professional development trainings provided by KPA; compensation is provided for this time.
Job Functions (Percentage of Time)
  • Spiritual Leadership – Study the Bible, articulate the implications of a lifelong commitment to following Jesus Christ, model Christian living, and exemplify KPA’s Portrait of a Teacher.
  • Lesson Planning, Preparation and Presentation – Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the curriculum; maintain syllabi and curriculum with Upper School Head approval; meet deadlines in FACTS/Renweb; establish standards for student performance.
  • Student Learning – Convey information using multiple modalities; articulate interrelations among subjects within God’s integrated universe; assess and monitor progress; provide feedback, reinforcement, and support; maintain records of progress.
  • Classroom Management – Implement School policies, establish a positive classroom climate, ensure safety and organization, manage behavior per Upper School Handbook, and understand safety procedures.
  • Communication – Engage meaningfully with students and parents, maintain professional relationships, and proactively communicate about programs and student progress.
  • Professionalism – Demonstrate commitment to KPA, model servant leadership, participate in professional development, and comply with staff policies.
Essential Requirements
  • A disciple of Jesus Christ modelled through love for God and obedience to His Word.
  • Full and unreserved support of KPA’s Statement of Faith, Mission, and Vision.
  • Mentor of students comfortable working with teenagers in a discipleship-oriented setting.
  • Love for working with middle and high school students and the ability to view challenges as ministry opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Abilities and Experience
  • Show consistent spiritual maturity; exercise wisdom, diplomacy, and integrity with professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality; supervise and motivate students, employees, and volunteers; demonstrate commitment to others’ well-being.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and orally; apply behavioral and academic standards with patience and fairness.
  • Make decisions in emergency situations with or without input from the Upper School Head.
  • Ability to operate a computer (email, Renweb/FACTS, word processing).
  • Preferred: knowledge of classical Christian education philosophy; post-graduate degree.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Regular walking and monitoring of student movements; close visual acuity for computer work; ability to hear and communicate effectively.
  • Occasional lifting (5–20 pounds); prolonged standing; bending, kneeling, crouching, and adapting to classroom needs.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
