Job description

Join to apply for the Lathe Setup and Programming Machinist role at DeVal Lifecycle Support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Setup & Operation:
    • Set up and operate CNC lathes according to production specifications.
    • Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for efficient machining.
    • Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and tool offsets for accurate cuts.
  2. Programming & Editing:
    • Read and interpret G-code, M-code, and CNC programming language for machine operations.
    • Create and modify programs using CAD/CAM software to optimize machining processes.
    • Adjust speeds, feeds, and tooling based on material properties and tolerances.
  3. Quality Control & Inspection:
    • Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
    • Verify conformance to tight tolerances (±0.001") and specifications from engineering blueprints.
  4. Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
    • Diagnose and correct machine errors, tool wear, and setup inconsistencies.
    • Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on CNC lathes.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment following company and OSHA safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of CNC lathe machining, including setup and programming.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in G-code/M-code, CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, feeds & speeds.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Haas and Mazak controls.
Work Conditions
  • Shift: 1st Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Overtime Opportunity Available.
