Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lathe/Mill Programmer for a direct hire opportunity in Simi Valley, CA within the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. This role is ideal for a skilled CNC programmer and machinist who can program, set up, and operate advanced 2, 3, 5, and 6 axis lathes and mills in a precision machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills, including 2, 3, 5, and 6 axis machines.
- Use Virtual Gibbs software to create programs, offset tools, and produce first article components.
- Machine print-to-part products according to customer specifications and required timelines.
- Perform live tooling operations and support complex prototype and precision machined parts.
- Inspect first product runs using appropriate measuring tools to ensure conformance and quality.
- Maintain AS9100 traceability, report defective materials, support tooling needs, and perform preventative machine maintenance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Program and set up CNC lathe and mill machines using Virtual Gibbs software.
- Produce first article, prototype, and print-to-part components for precision manufacturing.
- Operate multi-axis CNC equipment, including 2, 3, 5, and 6 axis lathes and mills.
- Perform self-inspection and verify machined parts meet customer and quality requirements.
- 5+ years of programming experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Previous experience using Gibbs or Virtual Gibbs machining software is required.
- Prior machinist experience operating CNC lathes and mills is required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and complex sectional drawings.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident as defined by ITAR requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Doosan CNC machines.
- Aerospace and defense manufacturing experience.
- Experience working in an AS9100 quality environment.
- Experience with live tooling, first article inspection, and complex prototype machining.
