Job description

Join to apply for the Lathe Machinist role at NOV.

Responsibilities

1. Setup and operate Manual Lathe with minimal assistance.
2. Validate work instructions before machining to ensure accuracy.
3. Adapt to work on CNC and manual machines as needed.
4. Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and make adjustments.
5. Complete work order routings to document actions.
6. Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to meet production goals.
7. Perform 100% inspections to meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
8. Follow all health, safety, environmental, HR, and quality policies and procedures.
9. Wear PPE including safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hard hat at all times.
10. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform basic preventative maintenance.
11. Minimize scrap rates to uphold high-quality standards.
12. Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
13. Load parts with overhead lifting equipment if necessary, operate controls, set offsets, and perform simple edits and deburring.
14. Contribute to safety, quality, innovation, and cost objectives; suggest process improvements.
15. Own and maintain personal tools required for the job.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of machining experience, with strong preference for Manual Lathe experience.
• Experience with CNC machines, grinders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, etc.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Vocational or technical training is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to adapt to change and take on responsibilities.
• Experience with conversational programming.
• Calm and effective handling of stressful situations.
• Knowledge of mills is advantageous.
• Ability to operate a small LP forklift and a horizontal band saw.
• Flexibility to work overtime and transition to CNC machining.
