Job Overview

The Woodburn Police Department is hiring Entry Level Police Officers to perform law enforcement duties including:

  1. Responding to and investigating incidents
  2. Patrolling assigned areas
  3. Enforcing laws and ordinances
  4. Making arrests and preserving crime scene evidence
  5. Summarizing events in reports
  6. Performing community policing in diverse neighborhoods

Officers may also be assigned to specialized units or teams within the department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old at hire
  • U.S. citizen or able to become one within 18 months
  • Pass competitive testing (reading, writing, physical, vision, hearing, psychological)
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and background check
  • Willing to work overtime, including holidays and weekends
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to complete recruit training and obtain Basic Certification from Oregon Board of Public Safety Standards and Training (pass ORPAT within required timeframes)
  • Valid Oregon Class C driver’s license or out-of-state equivalent with acceptable record
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English or Russian/English
  • Post-secondary education in criminal justice, public or business administration, sociology, psychology, or related fields
  • Completed and current physical fitness tests (ORPAT/PAT/Military Physical Fitness)
Additional Information

Candidates must meet Oregon's minimum standards for law enforcement officers and pass background checks as per OAR 259-008-0010-0070.

Selection Process
