Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have passed original probation in current employment as a California Peace Officer.
• POST Certificate must be attached to application at time of filing.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of submitting application.
• Valid California Class 'C' driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Meet POST Standards for a Peace Officer.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city in radio-equipped car or on foot; answer calls for protection of life and property; enforce laws.
• Make arrests; interview victims and witnesses; interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence.
• Contact and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies for apprehension and investigations.
• Prepare reports of arrests and activities; testify in court when required.
• Direct traffic at fires, events, and emergencies; administer first aid as necessary.
• Engage in community-based policing and problem-solving with residents and businesses.
