Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2-year college degree or vocational training in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, public administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of military, education and experience.
• Must be 21 years or older at time of employment.
• Felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years are not allowed.
• Must have no history of illegal drug use (no marijuana in past five years).
• Must be a United States citizen within eighteen months from hire date.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must be, or have been, a current certified Police Officer position for at least three years; out-of-state certifications must meet reciprocity requirements.
• Ability to learn applicable laws, regulations; good physical condition; communicate effectively; build relationships with public, peers and supervisors.

Responsabilités

• Performs law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrols, community policing and investigations; enforces federal, state and local laws.
• Works rotating shifts including security patrols, traffic control, investigation and first aid at accidents, and related duties.
• Responds to emergencies and uses judgment in handling difficult situations; coordinates with supervisors and other agencies as needed.
• Maintains communication for consultation during major emergencies; conducts patrols to preserve the peace and enforce laws.
• Interrogates suspects, witnesses, and drivers; preserves evidence; prepares cases for testimony and court proceedings.
• Prepares reports and records such as Daily Logs, investigations, field interrogation, alcohol and other reports.
