Job summary

The City of Selma Police Department is seeking a Police Officer (Lateral) to join a professional team dedicated to protecting life and property in a growing Central Valley community.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school required; P.O.S.T. Basic Academy certification essential.
• Possession of a valid California driver license.
• CPR and First Aid certificates issued by Red Cross are preferred.
• Knowledge of city, state and federal laws and police procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city areas and enforce laws.
• Respond to calls for service and investigate incidents.
• Prepare concise crime reports and maintain records.
• Direct traffic at events, emergencies and congested situations.
• Issue citations and make arrests as required.
• Interview witnesses and suspects and gather statements.
• Testify in court as needed.
• Perform animal control and related duties.
