The Durango Police Department is seeking experienced law enforcement professionals to join our team as Lateral Police Officers. You will enforce laws, prevent crime, protect lives and property, and deliver exceptional public service.

Lateral officers may be assigned to community policing, investigations, saturation patrols, or other programs to enhance safety and trust. Starting salary is dependent on experience and we offer a lateral entry program for officers certified by Colorado POST or

• Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment and post-offer testing including background, drug screen, and psychological exam.
• A valid driver’s license and POST certificate are required.
