Job summary

The Bothell Police Department is seeking qualified Police Officers who embody integrity, courage, compassion, leadership and creativity. The position offers a lateral hiring bonus of $50,000 and opportunities for specialty assignments such as ALERT Team, Detectives, SWAT, and School Resource Officers.

Patrol officers work a 28-day cycle with fourteen 12-hour shifts. Candidates must meet extensive qualifications including US citizenship or lawful permanent residency, age 21 by eligibility, and WA

Qualifications

• United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident.
• Minimum of 21 years of age by certification date of eligibility list.
• High school graduate; Associate degree in Law Enforcement preferred.
• Medical exam and drug screen completed by licensed physician.
• Valid WA Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations.
• Background free of crimes involving moral character.
• Successful completion of oral, psychological and polygraph tests.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Basic Law Enforcement School Certificate (WA CJTC).
• Ability to complete field training as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform patrol assignments and duties of a regular patrol officer or as assigned.
• Exercise independent judgment in emergencies and incidents.
• Assist detectives with investigations and case preparation for court.
• Engage in special law enforcement activities and non-routine investigations as needed.
• Work within department policies and maintain equipment and vehicles.

Education

High school diploma (Associate degree in Law Enforcement preferred)

Basic Law Enforcement Academy certificate (WA CJTC)

WA State CJTC basic certification (or equivalency)
