Akerman is seeking a Lateral Intake Manager to oversee the intake process for lateral attorney candidates, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience from initial contact through onboarding. The manager will be responsible for meeting performance metrics, process development and design, ongoing audits, software management, employee training, and supervising the Lateral Team. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of four lateral team members, including Conflicts, Background, and New Business Intake employees.
- Ensure ongoing training for all team members.
- Analyze lateral requests to identify and clear potential conflicts during pre-hire onboarding.
- Review conflict reports for accuracy and compliance with firm standards.
- Compile conflict reports from the conflicts database for review and clearance.
- Interface with firm employees, partners, associates, administrative staff, Practice Group Chairs, and General Counsel.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously, supervising urgent requests and ongoing projects.
- Lead and assist with complex projects involving large data reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of requests for audits.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop new team members.
- Perform research and analyze information as needed.
- Manage third-party software relationships and ensure team is updated on best practices.
- Ensure accurate data reporting from conflicts database to other departments.
- Conduct regular audits of the conflicts database.
- Perform daily tasks related to conflict searches and intake system entries.
- Process workflows for new and existing client conflicts into firm systems.
- Provide accurate conflict search information for clients and matters.
- Coordinate onboarding processes for lateral attorneys and employees.
- Prepare intake forms for onboarding lateral attorneys' clients/matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of related Conflicts/Intake experience.
- Minimum of 4 years supervisory/management experience.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Paralegal Certification preferred.
- Master's or Juris Doctor preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of conflict and new business intake software such as Elite, Intapp, 3E, Aderant, or similar.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Accurate typing skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and business practices.
