Job summary

Snohomish County is hiring Corrections Deputies to supervise inmates in jail, work release, and community corrections programs. Applicants must have completed the state Basic Corrections Officer Academy and meet basic eligibility requirements.

The role involves monitoring inmates, conducting bookings and searches, coordinating medical needs, and ensuring safety within all facilities. Training and certification may be required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
• No prior experience required for entry level Corrections Deputy.
• Must pass job related tests.

Responsibilities

• Book inmates into jail, work release, or community corrections; conduct interviews and collect booking data.
• Supervise inmate activities and movement, food service, and facility maintenance.
• Monitor medical needs, coordinate health care, and medications for inmates.
• Perform searches, fingerprints, photo data, and ID verification for inmates.
• Coordinate transportation for courts and external appointments; assist in disciplinary processes.
• Conduct regular security checks, screen visitors, and manage headcounts to prevent contraband.
• Assist in inmate transfers and provide guidance during discipline proceedings.
