Job Opportunity: Sworn Police Officers

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Prince George's County Park Police Division is accepting applications for Police Officers who are currently or previously certified in the State of Maryland (MPTC Certified) or meet Comparative Compliance standards.

We seek men and women of good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability, and integrity.

Responsibilities
  1. Patrol assigned areas via patrol car, motorcycle, horseback, or on foot; observe and report incidents of vandalism, violations of laws and park rules; note unsafe conditions; direct traffic and parking; respond to calls for service; secure crime or accident scenes; take initial statements; apprehend and arrest suspects; write incident reports.
  2. Perform crowd control duties during major events, especially on horseback; maintain and examine horses; feed and stable horses; perform minor veterinary care.
  3. Maintain motorcycles, including routine maintenance; patrol bike paths and regional park areas.
  4. Assist with crowd control at ice rinks, concerts, and other events during foot patrols.
  5. Serve as Field Training Officer, supervising and evaluating trainees during field training.
  6. Prepare cases and testify in court as arresting officer or witness.
  7. Conduct preliminary or follow-up investigations, prepare reports on evidence.
Qualifications
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Certification through MPTC or meet Comparative Compliance standards.
  • Must be willing to undergo post-offer medical, stress, and psychological evaluations, and pass an extensive background check.
  • May be subject to medical, drug, and alcohol testing.
