Lateral/Certified Police Officer (Eligibility Listing)

The City of Rockville is seeking highly motivated individuals for Police Officer positions at the Rockville City Police Department, a progressive and nationally accredited law enforcement agency. Officers perform routine and support law enforcement duties, often under emergency conditions, serving approximately 70,000 residents in collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Application Process

Applicants will be considered based on their qualifications as outlined below. The process includes a physical agility test, interview, background check, and various screenings. Successful candidates will undergo training and a probationary period.

Minimum Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency with pending citizenship application, and honorably discharged veteran status if applicable
• High school diploma or GED recognized by Maryland
• At least 21 years old at police academy graduation
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass written examination and physical agility test
• Good moral character, clear background, psychological and medical evaluations
• Ability to meet Maryland Police Training Commission requirements

Additional Qualifications

• Current or recent certification as a Police Officer through MPCTC or equivalent within the past 3 years
• Law enforcement experience preferred

Salary & Benefits

Annual salary ranges from $65,121 to $75,365, with benefits including shift flexibility, bonuses, take-home vehicle, multilingual stipends, tuition reimbursement, pension plans, paid holidays, and health insurance.
