Job summary

Columbus City Schools is seeking a Latchkey Teacher to oversee the before- and after-school program, ensuring student safety and smooth daily operations. You will support instructional staff, develop lesson plans, and maintain compliance with state and district requirements related to childcare and program quality.

The role involves supervising students, recording attendance, handling paperwork, and coordinating with the Instructional Assistant to plan activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required certifications in First Aid, Child Abuse, Communicable Disease, and CPR.
• Experience leading or supporting programming for school-aged children.
• Familiarity with Step Up to Quality or similar early childhood quality rating systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all students at all times, including active supervision.
• Take daily attendance and document all parent fees and related paperwork.
• Write and implement lesson plans, adjusting for developmental needs and interests.
• Address discipline issues immediately and appropriately.
• Submit all required documentation by district deadlines.
• Post and maintain schedules and complete Kronos entries timely to ensure payroll accuracy.
• Meet weekly with the Instructional Assistant to plan activities.
