Job summary

South Dakota Manufacturing & Technology Solutions (SDMTS), hosted by Lake Area Technical College (LATC), serves as the official Manufacturing Extension Partnership center for South Dakota. LATC hosts SDMTS and provides business consulting to SD manufacturers to fuel growth and the state’s economy.

The Business Advisor role reports to the SDMTS Director and LATC leadership, focusing on developing statewide programming, expanding client base, and ensuring program effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in manufacturing, engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience preferred.
• Lean Bronze or related certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with SDMTS and LATC teams to reach annual programmatic and strategic goals.
• Collaborate with the SDMTS team to assess the market and identify opportunities for training, consulting, project work, and events for manufacturing and related industries.
• Develop and implement state-wide, targeted manufacturing and business-related programming, including events, training, projects, and consulting, and expand the program’s client base; ensure client satisfaction and program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with consultants and organizations that complement/supplement the services of SDMTS’ and LATC’s internal resources.
• Assist in collecting project impact data, surveys, and other NIST MEP grant-related performance information.
• Comply with federal statutes, grant terms and conditions, and budget requirements, as well as all SDMTS, LATC, and Watertown School District policies and procedures.
• Represent the MEP Center at local, state, and national events/activities as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

South Dakota Manufacturing & Technology Solutions, hosted by Lake Area Technical College (LATC), is the official Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center for South Dakota. SDMTS is part of the MEP National Network, which is a unique public-private partnership that provides business consulting to South Dakota manufacturers to fuel growth and advance the state’s economy.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree or higher in manufacturing, engineering, or related field or equivalent combination or relevant education and experience.
• Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies, Supply Chain, Quality Management Systems, Leadership Development, Automation, and other general manufacturing best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, with CRM experience preferred.
• Lean Bronze or related certification preferred.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities if company fleet is unavailable; regular local and statewide travel is required

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants must have a safe and strong driving history.

12-month contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
