Job description

Night Shift Position: A 10% shift differential will be added to the base hourly rate


Job Description:

This position has the ability to run a laser welder effectively and efficiently on a continuous basis and can identify problems during the production run, position workpieces, and inspect parts on a daily basis using various types of inspection equipment.

Job Function:

Performs required operations on laser welder, including load and unloading of parts, part inspection, cleans and performs preventive maintenance and minor adjustments of assigned equipment; prepares various logs and records to document laser welder operation and daily production, enters required data into computer; moves/transports parts to appropriate location as needed; maintains safe, clean and orderly work areas; receives, reviews, and /or refers to various records or reports including travelers, shift reports, SOP, safety sheets, etc.; prepares labor sheets and non-conformance forms; interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including the immediate supervisor, co-workers, and other shop personnel; operates laser welder, micrometers, gauges, various power tools, computer, etc.; performs related duties as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and switch jobs as required
  2. Perform tasks efficiently and within standard time allotment
  3. Keep track of materials in the area
  4. Minor maintenance of laser welder
  5. Maintain an excellent attendance record
  6. Verify all parts are conforming before signing off on the traveler
  7. Keep track of all scrap and seek corrective actions when necessary
  8. Maintain all inspection gauges and tooling as required
  9. Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required
  10. Function effectively within a team environment
  11. Adhere to AS9100 and other quality standards

Requirements:

  1. Must demonstrate a high ability in the area of welding
  2. Must have High School Diploma or equivalent- documentation required
  3. Must meet the ITAR definition of US Person(s)- documentation required
  4. Be able to communicate information to others verbally and in writing in English
  5. Must have an understanding of the machining process
  6. Must be able to run parts to spec on a daily basis
  7. Must be able to read simple part drawings
  8. Must be able to use and read micrometers and dial calipers accurately
  9. Must be able to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
  10. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  11. Perform any other task management deems necessary or needed by the company
  12. MTI is a safety-sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug testing will be required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Must be able to use required personal protective equipment.
