Job summary

3-Dimensional Services Group is seeking an Experienced Welding Robot Programmer in Lapeer, MI. You will program and optimize TRUMPF laser welding systems, set weld parameters, and validate processes against prints and specs.

You will collaborate with engineering and quality to ensure repeatable, high-quality welds, train operators, and maintain documentation for AS9100D/IATF 16949 compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming industrial robots for welding, with KUKA experience preferred.
• Hands-on programming and setup of laser welding systems, TRUMPF experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of laser weld fundamentals, including penetration and heat input.
• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T with attention to spec and print.
• Good troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and software issues; document quality data.

Responsibilities

• Program and set up TRUMPF laser welding systems, including path, focus, speed, and shielding gas.
• Develop and document weld parameters for steel, stainless, aluminum, and other alloys.
• Prove out new jobs: first-article welds, cycle time optimization, and adjustments to meet specs.
• Collaborate with engineering and toolroom on fixtures for consistent weld results.
• Read blueprints and GD&T; verify weld quality through inspections and QA coordination.
• Troubleshoot programs, robot, laser, and fixture issues to reduce downtime and scrap.
• Train operators on running cells, changeovers, and basic fault recovery.
• Maintain backups, revision control, and weld documentation to meet AS9100D/IATF 16949.
