Pyramid Consulting, Inc. has an immediate need for a Laser & Radiation Safety Engineer / Specialist in Redmond, WA to join a 12-month contract with long-term potential.

The role is onsite at our client's R&D labs, focusing on safety audits, approvals of laser, LED and X-ray equipment, and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics or related field and LSO/RSO experience.
• Experience with laser, LED and X-ray safety in labs or engineering settings.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI Z136.1, IEC 60825, IEC 62471 and FLPPS.
• Experience conducting safety investigations, field testing or failure analysis.
• Certified or experienced Laser Safety Officer (LSO) / Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
• Hands-on laser calculations (MPE, NOHD, NHZ) and safety reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform laser and radiation safety audits in R&D laboratories.
• Review and approve laser, LED, and X-ray equipment and experiments for safety compliance.
• Conduct laser exposure calculations (MPE, NOHD, NHZ), optical measurements, and X-ray leakage surveys.
• Develop, review, and approve laser safety SOPs and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with ANSI Z136.1, IEC 60825, IEC 62471, FLPPS, and CDPH X-ray regulations.
• Support safety investigations, corrective actions and FMEA/ Fault Tree Analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, research, and product teams.
