Job summary

GCS Recruitment Specialists seeks an experienced ISP Laser Engineer to develop and optimize laser-based manufacturing for glass optical fibers used in AI data center connectors. The role spans R&D to production, collaborating with mechanical, controls, automation, and manufacturing teams to boost quality, efficiency, and yield.

The candidate will design and test laser processes, select hardware, and ensure laser safety standards are met while integrating laser systems into automated equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Physics, Optics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with industrial laser systems (fiber, CO2, solid-state, picosecond, femtosecond).
• Strong understanding of laser-material interactions, especially with glass and optical fibers.
• Experience transitioning laser processes from R&D to production.
• Knowledge of DoE, Six Sigma, SPC, and CpK.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser processes for glass optical fiber preparation (coating removal, cleaving, end-face shaping).
• Conduct DoE to identify optimal laser parameters.
• Improve process quality, yield, and capability using Six Sigma and SPC.
• Integrate laser systems into automated manufacturing equipment.
• Select and evaluate lasers, optics, beam delivery systems, and related hardware.
• Perform process testing and validation using optical metrology equipment.
• Troubleshoot laser systems and manufacturing process issues.
• Prepare SOPs, process specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with laser equipment suppliers and ensure laser safety compliance.
