Job summary

API Heat Transfer is hiring a First Shift Laser Operator to join our production team. The role involves setting up and operating laser systems, loading materials, and running production programs to meet customer specifications.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, modify cutting parameters, and inspect finished parts with precision instruments, while maintaining safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ work experience in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser equipment.
• Load and unload material and run production programs.
• Read part drawings, blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts meet specs.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus for quality.
• Measure dimensions with precision instruments to ensure conformance to specs.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems with minor adjustments.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for safety.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines operate.

What You Will Do:

The Laser Operator will manage laser operations including setting up and operating laser, loading and unloading material, and running the required production programs.

• Ensure that customer orders are completed according to schedule, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
• Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.

What You Bring:

• A minimum 2+ years’ work experience in manufacturing environment.
