Job summary

Central Plains Steel is seeking a Laser Operator to cut parts from sheet metal on one of our four laser machines. You will work with the programming and parts breakdown teams to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.

Qualifications

• Must have manual dexterity and steady hands.
• Ability to read and interpret written work orders and blueprints.
• Strong measurement and basic math skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Must work well in a team and communicate with supervisors.
• Adherence to safety and quality standards is essential.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints and work orders to determine processing specifications.
• Set up laser cutting unit with appropriate speeds and feeds.
• Position work pieces and operate laser machines to process parts.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections using calipers and gauges.
• Move materials using forklift or related equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and report defects or issues.
