Job summary

Openwork is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join a hands‑on manufacturing operation in Oklahoma City, OK. This role involves setting up and operating CNC plate laser cutting machines and tube lasers to cut metal parts according to engineering specifications.

You will nest programs, load stock, read technical drawings, inspect parts, and perform routine maintenance. The position offers a Monday–Friday first shift, overtime opportunities, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have CNC laser experience or tube laser experience.
• Able to set up machine and create nesting programs.
• 2 years CNC laser experience.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC plate laser cutting machines and tube lasers according to engineering specifications.
• Create, load, and adjust nesting programs to maximize sheet metal/tubing yield and maintain cut efficiency.
• Load raw metal stock onto the laser bed or tube loader and safely unload finished parts using forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, shop orders, and 3D CAD prints to verify cut dimensions and parameters.
• Perform in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and measuring gauges; perform deburring, grinding, and scrap removal on cut components.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, clean optics/nozzles, manage gas fill levels, and troubleshoot minor machine errors.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Nesting & Software Management: Create, load, and adjust nesting programs to maximize sheet metal/tubing yield and maintain optimal cut efficiency.
• Material Loading & Handling: Load raw metal stock onto the laser bed or tube loader and safely unload finished parts using forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Blueprint Reading & Tolerances: Read and interpret technical drawings, shop orders, and 3D CAD prints to verify cut dimensions and parameters.
• Quality Inspection & Deburring: Perform in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and measuring gauges; perform deburring, grinding, and scrap removal on cut components.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance, clean optics/nozzles, manage gas fill levels (nitrogen/oxygen), and troubleshoot minor machine errors.

What We're Looking For

• Must have CNC Laser experience or tube laser experience
• Must be able to setup machine and create nesting programs
• 2 years CNC laser experience
• Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility
• Industrial noise levels requiring participation in a hearing conservation program
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and remain active throughout the scheduled shift
• Must be flexible to work overtime based on business needs
