As a Laser Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for laser operations and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

This position is available on 2nd shift. The hours for this position are as follows: Monday to Thursday 2:30pm to 1:00am

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Startup & Shutdown of laser equipment
  • Set-up of correct cutting parameters and laser operation
  • Maintain equipment to ensure proper working conditions
  • Measure and verify that the parts produced meet print specs
  • Safely operate a forklift to handle materials
  • Document basic material, production and quality control issues
  • Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Requirements
  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • 3-5 years experience laser operator or similar experience preferred; 6 months of previous manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read blueprints preferred
  • Keen attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with a strong, positive attitude
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
