Job summary

Apex Tool Group in Jonesboro, AR is seeking a Laser Operator to set up and run a laser cutting machine in a full-time 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 2 PM–10:30 PM). You will load programs, adjust parameters, and ensure quality while performing preventative maintenance and safety checks.

The role requires working with sheet metal, reading blueprints, and maintaining documentation. Excellent benefits start on day one, with PTO, holidays, and a shift premium for 2nd shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related experience; minimum 1 year required.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Knowledge of tooling and tooling maintenance.
• Proficient with calipers and measurement tools to 1/32 in.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret measurements.
• Good computer skills.
• Experience with sheet metal and material identification (steel, aluminum, stainless).
• Able to work overtime hours (more than 40 hours/week and Saturdays).
• Stand/walk 8–10 hours; lift 25 lb continuously and 50 lb occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser cutting machine to support production.
• Set up and changeover machines, load/edit programs, and set machine parameters for optimal performance.
• Install and align tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment and identify problems with tooling and machine adjustments.
• Maintain quality standards; inspect products and adjust machines to meet specs.
• Recordkeeping and documentation as required; report unusual conditions.

Apex Tool Group in Jonesboro, AR has an opening for a Laser Operator who will set up and run a laser cutting machine to support production. This is a full-time 2nd shift position working Monday through Friday 2 PM to 10:30 PM daily.

The Build (Responsibilities)

• Set up and operate laser cutting machine to support production.
• Set up and changeover machines, load and edit programs, and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance.
• Install and align tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment and identify problems with tooling and machine adjustments.
• Maintain quality standards, inspecting the product and adjusting machines as needed to meet product specifications.
• Check product visually with fixed gauges and prints, including first piece inspections.
• Determine the cause of operating difficulties and take corrective action.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment when required.
• Move materials within the work area.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures to produce a quality product/service, including reporting non-conforming materials.
• Report unusual conditions or questionable items to lead or supervisor.
• Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Maintain accurate records as required.Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 to 3 years’ related experience; minimum 1 year required.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Knowledge of tooling and tooling maintenance.
• Proven ability to use calipers and measurement tools to 1/32.
• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret measurements.
• Good computer skills.
• Experience working with sheet metal and able to distinguish material types including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Able to work overtime hours (more than 40 hours per week and Saturdays) as required.
• Stand and walk continuously for 8-10 hours, if necessary.
• Lift and carry 25 points consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
