Job summary

Sawgrass Industries is seeking a Laser Machine Operator to join our Saluda production team. You will operate and maintain laser cutting equipment, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the process.

The role requires experience with Gerber laser systems, CAD/drafting familiarity, and the ability to read drawings and tolerances. This full-time position includes benefits and standard manufacturing workdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two or more years of experience operating Gerber laser cutting machines, preferably in the textile industry.
• Experience reading drawings and tolerances.
• Experience with CAD software and drafting is preferred.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience working with a variety of raw materials.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during the workday.
• Comfortable operating computers and production software.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate and tend automatic laser cutting machines safely and efficiently.
• Perform secondary production and post cut tasks.
• Inspect cut components to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Follow established production processes, work instructions, and safety procedures.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on laser cutting equipment.
• Operate manual cutting tools as needed.
• Read and interpret production orders, bills of materials, and routing documents.
• Identify nonconforming materials and potential production issues.
• Generate cut files to maximize material utilization and minimize waste.
• Assist with inbound raw material inspections when needed.
• Accurately document production data and maintain organized work areas.
• Support 6S initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Cross-train on multiple laser cutting machines and related production tasks.
