Job summary
Ravee Optics Inc is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer to design, build, and test next‑gen free-space optical communication terminals for terrestrial, airborne, and space platforms. You will lead architecture, perform link budget analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize SWaP‑C and performance.
Strong background in RF/optical engineering with MATLAB/Python modeling is essential; prior laser comm experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical, Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years designing or testing communication systems in any medium.
- Demonstrated ownership of link budgets and performance analysis.
- Fluent in MATLAB and/or Python for modeling and analysis.
- Hands-on lab experience bringing up hardware and testing campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to architecture and design of laser communication components.
- Build and defend link budgets and model end-to-end performance.
- Analyze link impairments and shape acquisition and tracking strategies.
- Drive component selection and system-level validation.
- Work with optical, mechanical, and software teams to integrate systems.
- Support alignment, calibration, and test campaigns in lab and field.
- Participate in customer briefings, requirements, and roadmap planning.
- Author technical documentation and proposals.
