Eligible for discretionary bonus and step increases over time. Essential duties include tacking welds on pole assemblies, reading drawings, lifting components with a crane, and using plasma torches and grinders.

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Backwelder must be certified in GMAW welding and must perform fit-up tasks. Backwelder must be well versed in the use of personal computers.
1st Shift Days Standard Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7AM - 5PM* 2nd Shift Evenings Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday 3PM - 11PM* 3rd Shift Nights Standard Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9PM - 7AM* *As needed, there will be work hours required outside the Standard Shift Schedule (above)
Starting Hourly Pay Rate (LG6): $24.47 Shift Differential for hours worked on 2nd & 3rd shifts - $1.00 per hour Opportunity for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year and 2 years Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
Must be able to read and write English Ability to use common manufacturing math 6 Months of previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or have graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification Ability to produce good welds. Ability to read & interpret drawings, showing locations of holes & orientations. Knowledge of safe working practices to prevent self-inflicting injuries & to prevent causing injuries to co-workers. Follow all Valmont safety guidelines, rules, and regulations with a practical working knowledge of PPE and LOTO.
Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
