Emerald Transformer in DeFuniak Springs, FL is seeking a Large Padmount Repair Technician to repair and restore large padmount transformers and related electrical equipment. This on-site role requires mechanical skill and a safety-first mindset to support reliable power distribution.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior experience with transformer repair or electrical equipment is preferred.
• Basic arithmetic and calculation skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of general shop safety practices.
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Repair large padmount transformers and support repairs of other power distribution equipment.
• Perform repairs on single-phase and three-phase padmount transformers.
• Use basic math skills to calculate transformer amperage and ratios.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure repaired units meet standards before leaving the workstation.
• Estimate repair costs for single-phase padmount transformers.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment as required.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials assigned to the workstation.
• Keep the workstation clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
• Meet established repair and productivity goals.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve department objectives.
• Provide repair support to other areas as needed.

The technician works independently and with a team to meet production goals while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Education/Certifications

Experience

• Prior experience with transformer repair or electrical equipment is not required but is preferred.

• Physical ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally and/or in excess of 20lbs force frequently.
