Optical Cable Corporation seeks a meticulous Extruder Operator 2" for the 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. shift, Monday–Thursday with some schedule flexibility and overtime. You will set up and run a 2” extrusion line, monitor quality, apply cable prints, and complete required paperwork.

Responsibilities include reading setup sheets, measuring products, ensuring compliance with automation files, and maintaining a clean work area while following safety procedures and company guidelines.

Qualificações

• Requires high school diploma or GED and about 6 months related experience or training.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to run a machine in production.
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions and quality procedures.

Extruder Operator 2”

Basic Function:

Significant Responsibilities:

• Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the automation file to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.


• Sets up, runs and continually monitors the 2” extrusion line for all products.


• Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper automation file.


• Applies print to cables using jet printers and mechanical printers as required.


• Correctly completes all paperwork specific to this job function.


• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.


• Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.


• Conducts all activities in accordance with the safety procedures and guidelines set forth by this company.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training preferred.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to run a machine in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.

Working Conditions: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This job requires sight for significant reading and computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with co-workers and alarm awareness. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

Compensation:

$17.60 – $25.25

The posted pay range reflects the established base salary or hourly wage range for this position. Individual compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs. New hires are typically hired below the midpoint of the range. Eligible positions may receive applicable shift differentials, skill premiums, or other forms of additional compensation.
