Job summary

Retail First Inc. in Elgin, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Pre-Press Specialist to prepare and manage files for large format printing, ensuring artwork is print-ready and optimized for production.

You will review files for correct size, resolution, color mode, bleeds and scaling; adjust artwork as needed; create proofs; and coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth job execution and timely delivery.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with RIP software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in large format printing or pre-press environment preferred.
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
• Strong understanding of color profiles, resolution, and print production standards.
• Experience with RIP software (Onyx, Caldera) is a plus.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and set up client files for large format printing (banners, signage, displays, etc.)
• Ensure files meet print specifications including size, resolution, color mode, bleeds, and scaling
• Adjust and correct artwork as needed (color correction, layout adjustments, file optimization)
• Create proofs and communicate with internal teams or clients for approvals
• Manage file workflow to printers
• Collaborate with production team to ensure smooth job execution
• Maintain organized file systems and job documentation
• Troubleshoot file issues and resolve pre-production challenges quickly
