Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Engine in Beloit, Wisconsin is seeking a CNC Machinist for the 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) with a $1/hour shift differential. You will set up and operate large CNC machine tools, read blueprints, and verify work with inspection instruments.

Required 3–5 years of experience operating CNC machines, the ability to read engineering drawings, and meticulous attention to detail. The role requires standing or sitting for long periods and effective self-management within a manufacturing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 3-5 years of experience operating CNC and/or equivalent machinery.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering requirements.
• Ability to use inspection measuring devices.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods, and move about the facility.
• Need to be well-organized and able to self-manage on tasks to completion.
• Experience programming at machine is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignment, drawings, process documents, program tapes, manuscripts and/or verbal instructions.
• Sets up machines using tools and equipment needed according to standard work instructions and machine requirements.
• Establishes reference points and sets offsets.
• May be required to preset tools.
• Make trial runs or prove out tapes as required.
• Perform work to tolerances indicated.
• May operate two machines simultaneously or perform other miscellaneous duties such as deburring, checking work, or presetting tools during machine cycle.
• Keeps machine clean and performs daily routine maintenance checks.
• Handles medium weight materials by hand and heavier materials by hoist or crane.

Primary Function:
To set up and operate an individual Large CNC machine tool.
Tools & Equipment:
Equipment includes a variety of Large CNC machine tools including but not limited to mills, horizontal or vertical lathe, machining center, horizontal boring bar. Equipment includes items such as fixtures, tools, inserts, chucks, heads, cutters, etc., that are standard equipment for the individual machine tool. Appropriate measuring instruments such as gages, micrometers, indicators, etc.; blueprints, process documents, hand tools.
