The Insurance Underwriting Department offers a culture of empowerment to produce results and resolve clients’ issues. Role Description:

Are you a strategic underwriting professional with a passion for relationship-building and large account management? As a Senior Regional Underwriting Manager in our Large Casualty group, you’ll lead the underwriting and servicing of large deductible, multi-line accounts within your assigned territory. You’ll drive revenue growth and profitability by creating compelling business cases for brokers, analyzing risk and pricing strategies, and evaluating coverage structure. Your collaboration with internal departments—Actuarial, Claims, Legal, and Risk Services—will be key to delivering best-in-class service. In this highly visible role, you’ll serve as the face of Safety National in the marketplace, managing key producer and client relationships, developing a robust pipeline of opportunities, and achieving critical metrics. This is an individual contributor position and does not have people management responsibilities. With an emphasis on innovation, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration, this role offers a dynamic environment for seasoned underwriters ready to take the lead on high-impact accounts.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our Chicago Corporate Office, located at 311 S. Wacker Dr., Suite 6350, Chicago, IL 60606. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
  • 7 or more years of Large deductible or national account production underwriting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in a field underwriting production environment.
  • Experience in leadership, mentoring, and coaching underwriting teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • CPCU designation is a plus.
  • Proven sales and negotiation skills, with an ability to foster long-term broker and client relationships.
  • Business acumen, including use of data to drive decisions.

Safety National is committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-based compensation. The target base salary range for this position is $143,000 to $213,950. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
