The Large Assembly Production Supervisor has broad responsibility for all aspects of day-shift operations within an assigned product-line work center at our St. Louis Membrane Solutions manufacturing facility.
Our Membrane Solutions facility assembles, tests, and ships air separation modules ranging from 1" to 8" in diameter for Aerospace (OBIGGS), Nitrogen, Dehydration, and Process gas applications. Assembly is the final production step before product reaches the customer, and quality escapes carry direct customer, contractual, and safety consequences.
Our ideal candidate has excellent leadership abilities coupled with a mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
In this key role, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team of approximately 20-24 production technicians and Team Leads on a day-shift rotation, with overall accountability for safe, efficient, and high-quality operations, including productivity, employee training and development, engagement, and employee relations.
Customer-facing quality ownership. Assembly is the last point of control before product ships to the customer. Modules are built to rigorous specifications for safety-critical applications. The supervisor is accountable for ensuring build quality, test integrity, and documentation accuracy within the assigned work center.
Product-line-specific process knowledge. The assembly operation is organized into dedicated work centers by product line, each with distinct build processes, test requirements, cycle times, and customer specifications. The supervisor must develop deep familiarity with the assembly methods, test protocols, and quality documentation specific to their assigned product line.
Team development in a scaling environment. The St. Louis site has grown approximately 67% in workforce over the past two years. The incumbent is responsible for developing working team leads into effective frontline leaders who can balance production duties with team coordination, and for building a pipeline of capable technicians who can absorb increasing throughput demands.
Shift coordination and handoff discipline. The supervisor is accountable for structured, high-quality shift handoffs to the night-shift supervisor, ensuring clear communication of production status, equipment issues, safety concerns, quality holds, and in-process work.
Cross-functional interface. The role requires active coordination with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Continuous Improvement teams to resolve production issues, support corrective actions, and support new product introductions. The supervisor must work collaboratively across the business with minimum direction from management.
