Lanier Technical College

Position Details

Position: Diesel Equipment Technology Lab Assistant / Part-time, Hall County Campus

Reports To: Dean of Applied Technology & Transportation

Salary Range: $15 to $19 per hour, depending on education and experience

Effective Date: Immediately

Responsibilities
  • Assist in setting up program and course labs, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepare labs/classrooms for instructional time for credited Diesel Equipment Technology courses.
  • Help students progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment; ensure safety and security requirements are met.
  • Meet with students, staff, and educators to discuss instructional programs and student progress.
  • Ensure all programmatic standards are met.
  • Handle administrative duties related to student advisement, advisory committee meetings, and program development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director/Instructors.
Minimum Qualifications

Working on or having completed a Technical diploma in Diesel Equipment Technology from a regionally accredited college or university, with relevant work experience. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Technical Competencies
  • Assist in all phases of Medium/Heavy Diesel truck labs.
  • Strong electrical and troubleshooting skills in multiplexing/CAN-Bus.
  • Knowledge of Diesel equipment service, including maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Assist with instructional materials and evaluate students’ progress.
  • Ensure safety and security in the training area.
  • Work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Operate computers and related software proficiently.
  • Effective oral and written communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An Associate’s degree in Diesel Equipment Technology or a closely related field.
  • Manufacturer Trained/Certified in multiple diesel equipment lines.
  • ASE Master Certification in Medium / Heavy Truck.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable.
