A part-time position as a Dental Assisting Program Adjunct Instructor is open at Lanier Technical College's Hall County Campus. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching courses, maintaining student records, and supporting students in achieving their educational objectives. Candidates should have an Associate’s degree and relevant teaching experience. The role targets individuals passionate about dental education who can commit to instruction during the upcoming academic term.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Part-time position with responsibilities centered on instruction, including preparing and teaching classes as assigned. Classes will be taught in a classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS:
It is preferred that the applicant have previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
EDUCATION:
· Must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree and be working toward a Bachelor's degree.
· Must meet one of the following: be a graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting program, RDH, or Dentist.
· Must have current knowledge at an appropriate level for the subject matter assigned.
To be considered for the position, applicants must submit a completed application and all required documentation by the established closing date. The required documents include a copy of college transcripts and Dental Assisting diploma (if applicable).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fall Semester (August 1 – December 1, 2025)
Assures students attain the objectives of each course. Reports to and provides a periodic performance appraisal to the Dental Assisting program director. Becomes familiar with program goals and understands course materials. Offers a positive professional attitude toward students and teaching. Attends meetings as necessary for program planning. Maintains current files on all students. Provides proper student counseling with the program director when needed. Teaches courses agreed upon by the program director. Keeps accurate student records and submits related reports and forms within requested timelines. Completes additional duties outlined in the position's job description.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES :• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff
• Skill in the operation of work-related computers
• Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level
• Effective human relations, verbal, and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Effective decision making and problem solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):
Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.NOTE: Part-time positions are temporary positions of employment and appointed on a per-academic-term basis.
