Language Interpreter

Fast-paced, high-volume hospital looking for a top skilled Language Interpreter

Work location: 8200 Walnut Hill Lane Dallas, Texas 75231 and 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue Fort Worth, Texas 76104

Work environment: Must be able to travel between the 2 work locations (North Dallas and Downtown Fort Worth locations)

Work hours: PRN; the majority of the hours (8am-430pm and/or 630am-3pm) Monday - Friday; You may be asked to work Saturdays as needed, work some major holidays and cover last minute call-ins

Here’s What You Need:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED)
  2. Completion of Catholic Charities Community Interpreting program or any equivalent interpreter qualifying program (PREFERRED)
  3. Bachelor's Degree in Interpretation and Translation, Languages or Linguistics (PREFERRED)
  4. Two years of work experience in language interpretation or bilingual customer/patient experience in a hospital or healthcare facility (REQUIRED) OR
  5. One year of work experience as a medical interpreter in a hospital or healthcare facility (REQUIRED) OR
  6. One year of related work experience in a medical interpretation and Baccalaureate or higher degree in interpretation or translation (REQUIRED)
  7. Bilingual English/Spanish (STRONGLY PREFERRED)
  8. National Professional Certification credentials, such as CCHI Certified Healthcare Interpreter (AHI-CHI) upon Hire (PREFERRED)
  9. National Professional Certification credentials, such as CCHI Certified Healthcare Interpreter (AHI-CHI) within 2 years (REQUIRED)
  10. Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task and juggle phone calls, email requests and Vocera calls simultaneously (PREFERRED)
  11. Reliable Transportation (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

What You Will Do:

  1. Facilitate accurate medical and health care related information during routine and non-routine patient care activities, between clinicians and THR system's staff to Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and family members
  2. Apply technical knowledge and skills for accurate verbal consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, and sight-translation
  3. Follow guidelines of interpreter's professional code of ethics from the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC)
  4. Provide continuous assistance and training to interpreter colleagues
  5. Act as a cultural liaison and resource to the hospital to provide effective communication and services to LEP patients and Families
