Job summary

Balance of Nature, Inc. is seeking a creative Language Arts tutor to work one-on-one with students aged 6–16 in a homeschooling setting in Leeds, Utah. The role focuses on building confidence in reading, writing, and communication through customized lessons.

You will design a language arts curriculum from the ground up, tailor instruction to each student’s goals, track progress, and collaborate with parents to support growth in literacy and critical thinking.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic Language Arts educator who loves helping young people become confident readers, writers, and communicators. This is a unique opportunity to work one-on-one with students ages 6–16 in a homeschooling environment where you’ll have the freedom to build lessons, explore ideas, and make Language Arts meaningful.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Part-Time, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: In-person at the student’s home in Leeds, Utah

What You’ll Do

• Build a custom Language Arts curriculum from the ground up based on each student’s skill level, interests, learning style, and goals.
• Develop strong reading and writing skills through literature, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and meaningful discussion.
• Teach students to think critically by helping them analyze what they read, develop their own ideas, and communicate those ideas clearly.
• Recognize gaps in understanding and adapt your teaching approach when a student needs a different explanation, challenge, or way of learning.
• Create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable sharing ideas, making mistakes, asking questions, and developing their voice.
• Take ownership of the student’s growth by preparing meaningful lessons, tracking progress, building strong study habits, and communicating with parents.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in English, writing, and communication; a related degree is highly preferred.
• Previous experience tutoring, teaching, homeschooling, or mentoring students ages 6–16.
