Position Details

Title: Landscaper II

Location: 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843 (additional openings at other district locations available).

Schedule: Full‑time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Full‑time and part‑time flex schedules also available to meet most needs.

Pay: $14.00–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements: 1 year of prior landscaping experience; basic knowledge of equipment and tools.

Job Summary

Cultivates and maintains landscaping and grounds surrounding campus buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Care for established lawns (mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming, and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls).
• Plant flowers, pull weeds, repair structures, and maintain outdoor areas as needed.
• Apply pesticides to control pests such as mosquitoes, wasps, ticks and others.
• Mix, spray and spread fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
• Determine and plant appropriate seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees and shrubs.
• Use gardening tools to apply mulch for protection.
• Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
• Interpret construction documents and implement the design successfully.
• Operate construction‑related equipment as needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects; observe all safety protocols.
• Attend training as required.
• Deploy for emergency response due to inclement weather (snow, ice, tornado, or other crises).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

• Extensive driving, walking and equipment operation.
• Exposure to extreme weather, pesticides, fertilizers, pollen, paint and petroleum products.
• Worktime: 90% physical labor, 10% training and miscellaneous.
