Job summary

The St. Joe Company is seeking a full-time Landscaper to maintain ornamental plants and perform mowing, trimming, pruning, and general groundswork around buildings and parking areas in Panama City Beach, FL. You will support the Lead Landscaper and Superintendent as directed.

Responsibilities include planting, watering, fertilizing, pest control, and basic maintenance of outdoor features, with a focus on safety and guest experience. Prior groundskeeping experience is preferred.

Job Summary

The role of Landscaper is responsible for maintaining ornamental plants by propagating plant materials for ornamental use around buildings, parking lots, and other areas. Additionally, the role is responsible for mowing, trimming, and pruning as needed while also assisting the Lead Landscaper and Superintendent as directed.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Rake, mulch, pull weeds and prune the grounds as needed.
• Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
• Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.
• Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others.
• Sweep walkways of debris.
• Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to keep people from falling.
• Cut down tree limbs that pose a danger.
• Install and maintain lawn furniture and other outdoor fixtures, such as rock, cement, lighting, and water features.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping.
• Perform groundskeeping and building maintenance duties, including routine tasks such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other general maintenance as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Enough education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and communicate with guests about job-related needs.
• Ability to read, write and speak, and communicate in basic English preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar position preferred.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to withstand frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, and walking.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Primarily outdoor.
• Exposure to sun, heat, cold, and weather.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and dangerous equipment (with PPE).
