Job summary

The University of Idaho is seeking a Landscape Technician in Moscow to perform green space and hardscape maintenance across campus. This essential role supports campus operations and may be called upon during emergencies or university closures.

Position Overview

The position performs green space and hardscape maintenance to ensure a high quality of landscape care within an assigned area of the campus landscape. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

• Possess a Commercial Pesticide Applicators Certification forthe category of Ornamental/Landscape Herbicide Application or ableto obtain one within six months of hire
• Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet policyrequirements for driving university-owned vehicles
• Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serveon weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation

Additional Preferred

• Associate's Degree in horticulture, urban forestry, landscapemaintenance or a related field
• One year of experience in commercial or institutional landscapecare operations
• Certification to operate landscape equipment such as forklifts,tractors, aerial lifts or related equipment
• Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related tolandscape maintenance

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Must be able to:
  • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours ata time
  • Climb and work at various heights above ground using ladders,scaffolding, lifts and bucket trucks
  • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50pounds
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performingduties
  • Work in confined spaces using equipment and appropriatePersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
  • Work on uneven and slick surfaces
