This leadership role manages a seven-person team, develops maintenance programs, ensures pest management compliance, budget oversight, and coordination with contractors, with a focus on South Florida plant materials and environmental best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive landscape management experience, preferably within a golf course, country club, resort, municipality, or large commercial property.
• Florida pesticide applicator license(s) or ability to obtain immediately upon employment.
• Certified Arborist designation through the ISA (International Society of Arboriculture).

DESCRIPTION

Hunters Run Country Club is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Landscaping Superintendent to oversee all landscape operations throughout the property. This newly created leadership position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance, health, and sustainability of the landscaping at the Clubhouse, community entrances, common areas, and all three championship golf courses.

The Landscaping Superintendent will provide hands-on leadership for a growing landscape team, currently consisting of seven employees, while developing and implementing comprehensive landscape maintenance programs. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of South Florida ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, turf interfaces, and environmental best management practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Landscape Management

• Direct and oversee all landscape maintenance operations throughout the property, including:
• Clubhouse grounds and surrounding landscapes
• Community entrances and roadway corridors
• Common areas and recreational spaces
• Landscape areas associated with all three golf courses
• Develop and implement seasonal landscape enhancement plans.
• Monitor landscape conditions and proactively identify areas requiring improvement or renovation.
• Ensure all landscaped areas are maintained to the highest standards of presentation and health.

Tree Management and Arboriculture

• Develop and manage a comprehensive tree maintenance program.
• Conduct regular inspections of trees throughout the property to assess health, safety, and appearance.
• Coordinate pruning, removals, planting, and preservation efforts.
• Maintain accurate records of tree inventories and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with arboricultural best practices and industry standards.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

• Develop and implement an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
• Monitor landscape areas for insects, diseases, weeds, and other plant health issues.
• Apply pesticides and plant protectants safely and effectively in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Maintain all required pesticide application records and regulatory documentation.
• Promote environmentally responsible pest management practices.

Leadership and Staff Management

• Supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate a landscape maintenance team currently consisting of seven employees, with anticipated future growth.
• Establish daily work schedules and assign responsibilities to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Provide ongoing training related to landscape maintenance, safety procedures, equipment operation, and horticultural practices.
• Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all club safety policies and procedures.

Budgeting and Administration

• Develop and manage annual landscape maintenance budgets.
• Monitor labor, materials, equipment, and contractor expenses.
• Prepare recommendations for capital improvements, landscape renovations, and equipment purchases.
• Maintain inventory levels for fertilizers, pesticides, plants, irrigation supplies, and landscape materials.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers as needed.

Irrigation and Property Monitoring

• Work closely with golf course maintenance and irrigation staff to ensure proper water management for all landscaped areas.
• Monitor irrigation performance and identify deficiencies affecting plant health.
• Evaluate landscape conditions regularly and adjust maintenance programs accordingly.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive landscape management experience, preferably within a golf course, country club, resort, municipality, or large commercial property.
• Extensive knowledge of South Florida plants, trees, palms, shrubs, and ornamental landscape materials.
• Florida pesticide applicator license(s) or ability to obtain immediately upon employment.
• Certified Arborist designation through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
• Strong knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and practices.
• Experience supervising and managing landscape crews.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to prepare budgets, manage expenses, and maintain detailed records.
• Valid Florida driver's license.

Preferred

• Golf course or high-end resort landscape management experience.
• Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Agronomy, Arboriculture, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of South Florida.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk extensive areas of the property daily.
• Ability to operate landscape equipment and vehicles safely.
