Responsibilities

  • Oversee upkeep of college grounds: mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, planting and mulching.
  • Diagnose plant health, soil and pest issues; implement remediation plans.
  • Plan, assign and review tasks for landscaping staff; ensure safety and quality.

The Facilities Management Department is responsible for approximately 5,500,000 sq. ft. of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County. The Landscaping Technician III position supports that effort through helping manage the college landscaping and grounds and staff.**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Advanced knowledge of landscaping practices, including plant care, soil management, pest control, and seasonal grounds maintenance.* Understanding of irrigation systems, including installation, inspection, repair, and water efficiency techniques.* Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), with preference for TMA experience.* Knowledge of workplace safety standards and protocols for landscaping operations.* Proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment, such as mowers, blowers, trimmers, tractors, and skid steers.* Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.* Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.* Ability to train, mentor, and lead a team, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards.* Diagnose and address complex landscaping problems, including pest infestations, irrigation challenges, and plant health issues.* Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining focus on quality and safety.* Document maintenance and work schedules accurately using a CMMS.* Perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.* Must have the ability to maintain the security and integrity of the critical infrastructure of Dallas College.## **Physical Demands:**This position requires a variety of physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, bending over, stooping, twisting, talking, hearing, climbing ladders, using stairs, reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, or crawling.
