Job summary

Rossen Landscape in Sterling, VA is seeking a Residential Landscape Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of residential construction and planting projects. You will lead field operations, emphasize safety and quality, and ensure client satisfaction on every job.

You’ll coordinate with sales to transition sold work into the field, manage crews, subcontractors, materials, and budgets, and mentor crew leaders in proper horticulture practices.

Qualifications

Title: Residential Landscape Project Manager

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Pay Range: $75,000 to $125,000 plus performance incentives

Location: Sterling, VA

Job Summary :

As a Residential Landscape Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful execution of our residential construction and planting projects. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations in the field, with a focus on team leadership, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Our Residential Landscape Project Manager is accountable for overseeing crews, training team members on proper construction techniques and safety protocols, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You’ll work closely with the sales team to transition sold work into the field, managing labor, materials, and subcontractors to meet job specifications and deliver an exceptional client experience.

Ideal Residential Landscape Project Manager candidates will have at least four years of experience managing residential landscape projects, with strong organizational skills, a client-focused mindset, and a passion for coaching and developing their teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership, Management, and Accountability – Lead, manage, and hold team members accountable for the effective execution of our client service process as it relates to landscape maintenance.
  • Coaching and Mentoring —Foster a culture where crew leaders are continually developed and mentor them to the proper horticulture practices for landscape maintenance services.
  • Onsite Training & Construction Techniques: Provide hands-on coaching to crew members during job execution to ensure proper installation techniques, efficiency, and high-quality standards across all residential landscape projects.
  • Safety Protocols & Training: Lead regular safety meetings and job site inspections to ensure all employees follow best practices and company safety guidelines, creating a secure and compliant work environment.
  • Budget Oversight – Time & Materials: Clearly communicate budget expectations for labor and materials to crews before job execution and actively monitor performance throughout the project to ensure completion within budget.
  • Process & Policy Compliance: Promote consistency and professionalism by holding team members accountable for following company procedures, policies, and project documentation requirements.
  • Client Communication & Experience: Build strong client relationships through regular updates, prompt responses to questions or concerns, and professional on-site presence that ensures a smooth and positive experience.
  • Collaboration with Sales Team: Partner with the sales team during pre-job planning to align on scope, budgets, materials, staffing needs, and subcontractor coordination—ensuring a seamless transition from sale to execution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Landscape Project Management: Minimum of 4 years managing residential landscape construction or planting projects
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using project management and communication tools such as Aspire, Microsoft Outlook/Teams, and Excel
  • Client-Focused Mindset: Courteous and responsive to client needs—our clients’ happiness is our top priority
  • Attention to Detail & Organization: Ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines with a clear, detailed approach
  • Problem Solving: Quick thinking and level-headed approach to troubleshooting on job sites
  • Spanish (Conversational Preferred): Ability to effectively communicate with and manage a bilingual crew

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Experience reading and interpreting landscape contracts and technical plans
  • Proficiency in landscape construction methods, plant installation, and site preparation
  • Willingness to grow professionally through feedback, coaching, and training
