Job summary

ExecutiveID & Search is seeking a Landscape Procurement Manager to oversee sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management for landscaping operations. You will ensure materials, plants, equipment, and irrigation supplies are procured at the right cost and delivered on time to support project schedules.

Responsibilities include procurement oversight, PO creation, scheduling, team leadership, and continuous improvement of purchasing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Horticulture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally in landscaping, horticulture, construction, or related industries.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

The Landscape Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management to support landscape operations. This role ensures materials, plants, equipment, and irrigation supplies are acquired at the right cost, meet company standards, and delivered timely to maintain projects schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Oversight

• Oversee all procurement activities related to landscaping materials, including plants, irrigation material, aggregate/mulch, soils, and related equipment.
• Develop and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and best practices across the department.
• Monitor spending against budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, contracts, and relevant regulations.
• Track procurement KPIs (cost savings, on-time delivery, vendor performance, material requests) and report to management.

Purchase Order Creation

• Review purchase requisitions from field crews, project managers, and superintendents.
• Create, issue, and track purchase orders for plants, mulch, soil, irrigation materials, tools, and equipment from business management software.
• Verify pricing, quantities, and delivery terms against vendor quotes and contracts before approval.
• Reconcile purchase orders with invoices and delivery receipts; resolve discrepancies, 3-way match.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers (nurseries, material yards, equipment dealers, subcontractors).
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors to ensure reliability and priority service.
• Resolve vendor disputes, quality issues, and delivery delays promptly.

Scheduling

• Coordinate material and equipment delivery schedules with project timelines and field requests.
• Work with project managers and crew leads to align purchasing lead times with job schedules.
• Maintain inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock, adjusting orders based on project pipeline.

Purchasing Team Management

• Supervise, train, and mentor purchasing/procurement staff.
• Assign workloads, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and support professional development.
• Establish standard operating procedures for the purchasing team to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, and scheduling for procurement team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Horticulture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally in landscaping, horticulture, construction, or related industries.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with procurement/ERP software.
• Knowledge of landscape materials, plant sourcing, and irrigation.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating across field crews, vendors, and leadership.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based with periodic visits to nurseries, material yards, and job sites.
• May require occasional travel to vendor locations or industry trade shows.
