Job summary

Sperber Landscape Companies is seeking an Operator to join our landscaping crew in Hawaii. You will operate and maintain heavy machinery for diverse projects, ensuring safety and efficiency on every site.

Responsibilities include pre/post inspections, routine maintenance, and collaboration with team members to meet project goals. A valid license and prior equipment experience are preferred; training is provided to the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery in landscaping or construction.
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification or training in equipment operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and best practices for equipment operation.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment.

  • Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines when operating equipment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and refueling.
  • Prepare job sites for landscaping projects, including clearing debris, leveling ground, and excavating; use heavy equipment to dig trenches and grade surfaces.
  • Assist in installing hardscape features such as walkways, patios, and retaining walls.
  • Support drainage systems and irrigation infrastructure construction.
  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies at job sites; transport to and from sites as required.
  • Ensure safe and secure transportation of materials to minimize damage or loss.
  • Follow loading/unloading procedures to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and PPE usage; report defects or hazards to supervisor.
  • Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members; communicate effectively with supervisors to ensure workflow.

Safety And Compliance

  • Follow instructions and guidance provided by supervisors regarding safework practices.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
  • Monitor and report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
