Job summary

City of Savannah seeks a Landscape/Turf Maintenance role to manage athletic fields and turf areas. You will plan and supervise pesticide and fertilizer applications, calibrate equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities include coordinating work, maintaining standards, and training crews in equipment operation and landscape practices for parks and sports facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with vocational turf/landscape training.
• Four years' experience in landscape, athletic fields, golf courses or spray work.
• State pesticide license with Ornamental and Turf endorsement or must obtain within 12 months.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving history.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, assigns, reviews work and schedules; maintains standards; inspects progress.
• Applies pesticides per plan; helps plan fertilizer and turf plans; ensures safe execution.
• Calibrates fertilizer and chemical equipment; uses various spreaders and sprayers.
• Ensures proper storage, use, and disposal of chemicals per regulations; maintains records.
• Operates lawn maintenance equipment and performs landscape tasks; assists field projects.
• Trains crew in safety, tools, and techniques; maintains turf and sports fields.
