Job summary

BrightView Landscapes is seeking a Landscape Tender PW in the San Diego area to support landscape and irrigation duties using hand and power tools and standard equipment. Your work will include laying sod, planting trees and shrubs, watering landscapes, and performing site prep.

The role involves operating irrigation systems and basic wall installations, with a focus on safety and efficiency in a dynamic outdoor environment. A minimum of six months’ commercial landscape experience is required.

• Ability to operate hand equipment with mechanized moving blades (e.g., gas-powered shears).
• Experience using manual hand tools such as shovels.

Job Summary

The Landscape Tender PW performs a variety of landscape and irrigation duties using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lay sod and prepare planting areas.
• Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Water and fertilize landscaped areas.
• Dig, rake, and perform general site preparation.
• Install and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.
• Install mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Education and Experience

• Minimum 6 months commercial landscape experience
• Ability to operate hand equipment with mechanized moving blades (e.g., gas-powered shears)
• Experience using manual hand tools such as shovels.

Physical Demands / Requirements

• The ability to work from elevated heights such as an 8’ A-frame ladder.
• Ability to use a hand shovel for extended period.
• Ability to move soil, equipment, and materials, dig holes, and plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day.
• Ability to handle items such as plants, bushes, hoses, shovels, rakes, and burlap bags - which are handled by two workers.

Work Environment

• Able to work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic.
• Able to work near or about natural bodies of water.
• Able to work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (overtime/weekend work required)
• Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.

Compensation Pay Range

$22.75 - $24.00
